Saint Anthony the Great (251-356), is an Egyptian saint, who is much venerated in Orthodox and Catholic Churches.
He is one of the great Fathers of the Church, and is often regarded as the founder of Christian monasticism.
Saint Anthony spent twenty years in complete isolation and constant struggle with the demons, and he finally achieved perfect calm.
Saint Anthony prophesied about the persecution that was about to happen to the Church and the control of the heretics over it, the Church victory and its return to its formal glory, and the end of the age.

Rep. Allen West stands up against the mob.
West said: "We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, (audience boos) and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain’t on the table".
West continued: "Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America".
Following cheers, West added, "Yeah I said ‘hell’".
Pope Benedict XVI has called for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, according to Ynetnews.
I think that is a brilliant initiative, and I pray for peace in the whole world.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday peace prospects with the Palestinians are now looking poor.
I agree, but things can change.
God has promised the land of Israel to the Jews, according to Acts 1:6, and God doesn't take back His gifts, according to Romans 11:29.
But there is also an equal promise to the Greeks and the Christians concerning the Church, because there is no difference between the Greek and the Jew, according to Romans 10:12.
But there will be more blood around the Church than around Israel.
The Church is also spiritual Israel.
The Old Testament Septuagint text in Greek was established a couple of hundred years before the Hebrew canon, and it has been the Bible of the Church for 2.000 years.
The Latin language is derived from both the Greek and the Hebrew, and is very important and sacred for the common man, in the same way as Greek is the language of the Church.
The Church is for ever and the gates of hell will never prevail against it, see Matthew 16:18.
Christian Orthodoxy has kept the true Christian faith.
Constantinople is the eternal capital of the Church, in the same way Jerusalem is the capital of the Jews, see Revelation 20:9.
The fight for Constantinople, when the Vatican is gone, will be the bloodiest battle in history.
All our prayers are indeed needed, and not only for the Holy Land, but also for the Church of Christ.

Greek officials have reacted angrily to a leaked German proposal for an E.U. budget commissioner with veto powers over Greek taxes and spending, according to BBC News.
The spokesman for the Greek government, Pantelis Kapsis, tells the Germans to get lost on their proposal for Germany to come in and totally control the Greek economy in exchange for bailout money.
The German plan was leaked ahead of a meeting of E.U. leaders in Brussels on Monday, when they will discuss a new fiscal pact.
Greece needs to find a way out of the European Union, and to stand neutral, in order to retain its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Scandinavian countries, the Baltic states, and the Netherlands, should find a way to unite Northern Europe, and to become the western part of Russia.
Canada should likewise become part of the U.S.
For the sake of future generations and of peace, France, Germany, Italy, and the U.K., should likewise sit together and decide to merge into one nation.
A common language, a common religion, and one government for these nations would benefit the whole world.
Greece should however try to stand independent from the superpowers as much as possible, because of the country's religious and spiritual importance in the world.
Ratings agency Fitch downgraded the credit ratings of five eurozone nations Friday; Italy, Spain, Belgium, Cyprus and Slovenia.
Fitch blamed the revisions on "the marked deterioration in the economic outlook" in Europe and "the absence of a credible financial firewall against contagion and self-fulfilling liquidity crises".
Rival rating agency Standard & Poor's downgraded nine eurozone countries two weeks ago, saying European politicians weren't doing enough to address Europe's debt crisis.
European politicians will however never be able to address the problem properly.
The E.U. President lacks political power, and whatever he says will not be taken seriously in Spain, Cyprus, or in Slovenia.
And if you ask people there, they have probably never heard of him...
The different European nations are waiting for the result of the upcoming U.S. Presidential election before addressing the debt problem.
After the election, the eurozone nations will adjust their domestic financial policies more or less independently of each other.

George Soros seems to think that Germany throws Europe into a debt crisis.
The situation is more complicated than that.
It is both a religious and political problem.
Most countries in Europe are socialist republics, where you pay a lot of taxes, but get nothing back.
Bureaucracy, hate toward all kinds of technical innovations, and socialism are serious problems indeed.
If you import a car from the U.S. to France for example, you must first change most things on the car, which takes several months.
Then you need to have all the paperwork and everything confirmed, which takes another couple of months.
The cultural racism between the continents is exceedingly profound.
I remember how easy it was for people to make 5.000 euro per month in Sweden 15 years ago.
Now, I saw on the news that only 3 percent of the French make more than 4.600 euro per month, and everything today costs the double..
The truth is that France, with the rest of the world, is getting poor and more bureaucratic.
Greece is an even more a backward republic today, although it has the right religion - Christian Orthodoxy - just like Russia.
Unfortunately, oriental despotism, with its communist tendencies is what is prevalent also on all levels of the modern Greek society.
I think it is very wrong to blame Germany for doing the right thing.
The problem is that countries like France and Greece almost treat their peoples like shit.
They should be better than that!
This is very sad, because there are good people in both countries, and especially in Greece.
But those who decide on the top level have an inferior set of mind; they are both incompetent and arrogant.
When the U.S. becomes a Christian Orthodox nation, we can all relax, because then Russia will get its well needed Western influences, and at the same time the U.S. can replace the folly of Protestantism and Catholicism, and centralize the political power and decision-making in spiritual harmony.
Europe is too divided in different languages and cultures to become a serious world power.
The nations here are destined to watch and to follow what happens in the U.S. and in Russia, and then to try to make the best of the situation.
There will probably be many attempts to try to unite Europe, but they are all doomed to fail, because Europeans don't like democracy, freedom, or religion.
But I hope the Orthodox Church and Constantinople will be able to give the nations an entrepreneurial spirit, and couple the spirit of unity, with a spirit which supports modernization and technological advancement.
An unidentified woman told the 911 operator that Moore "smoked something - it's not marijuana, it's similar to incense" and she "seems to be suffering convulsions".
In speaking to the 911 operator, one of Moore's friends said: "She's been having some issues lately with some other stuff, so I don't know what she's been taking or not".
"Whatever she took, make sure you have it out for the paramedics", the operator says.
In the race for the Republican Presidential nomination, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich announces that, if elected, he will establish a colony on the moon.
In a speech to supporters on the Florida space coast, Gingrich called for a "grandiose" effort to colonize space.
"It's the second great launch of the adventure John F. Kennedy started", said Gingrich.
Gingrich wants the moon to become the 51st U.S. state, and he also wants manned missions to Mars.
With Newt Gingrich as U.S. President it is clear that the odds for the survival of the human race would improve quite dramatically.

An all-female religious sect believes that Vladimir Putin is the reincarnation of St. Paul the Apostle, according to Weekly World News.
The sect was founded by a woman calling herself Mother Fotina in the village of Bolshaya Yelnia.
Mother Fotina, whose real name is reportedly Svetlana Frolova, teaches her followers that Putin was St. Paul in his past life and that his political career follows in the early Christian missionary’s footsteps.
The number of women in the sect is unknown, but estimates are over two million Russian women.
Vladmir Putin supports the sect and reportedly said: "It is impressive that they think so highly of the me. They make a lot of sense".
While Putin's popularity is certainly tied to his image – leading to everything from Putinka brand vodka to the girl-band pop song "Like Putin" – Putin's image is, in turn, mirrored by his era, an era in which Russia is getting stronger, reasserting itself internationally, becoming more stable at home and growing economically.

A suburban Chicago man accidentally shot a 3.25in (8.25cm) nail into his skull but is recovering after doctors successfully removed it from the center of his brain.
His fiancee, Gail Glaenzer, told the Associated Press he was in good spirits after the two-hour surgery to remove the nail at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
Lots of snow, nail in the head...
I'm glad he's alright.

A study shows that it takes a minority of just five percent to influence a crowd's direction - and that the other 95 percent follow without even realizing what is going on.
Scientists at the University of Leeds have conducted the research, which proves the tendency of people to act like sheep, according to Natural News.
People believe anything as long as the message is delivered with enough social credibility.
The biggest problem is that people have difficulties to determine what really matters in life.
The soul is immortal and thus we will spend eternity in either paradise or in hell.
What have you done for your salvation today?

A Wednesday blackout by Wikipedia, Mozilla, and other big-name websites is enough to give some senators second thoughts, according to Politico.
The websites are protesting against legislation pending in the U.S. Congress intended to crack down on online sales of pirated U.S. movies, music, or other goods by forcing internet companies to block access to foreign sites.
I see the protest as a good and healthy thing, since I believe technological advancement, education, and unity are promoted by a free internet.
This is really about democracy.

It seems a UFO might have hit Cruise Liner Costa Concordia off the coast of Italy.
Some alien debris have apparently been sighted...
But rather than to risk poverty and bankruptcy, it can eventually be easier to scream accident than to further investigate these findings?

Let us pray 2012 will have less violence against religious persons.
A leader in Israel's Greek Orthodox Christian community was for example stabbed to death by an unknown assailant during an Orthodox Christmas march in Jaffa.
Clerics identified the victim as Gabriel Cadis, and eyewitnesses said the murderer was dressed as Santa Claus, according to Worthy Christian News.
Six locals were arrested in connection with the murder, Church and police officials said Saturday, January 7.
Gabriel Cadis was the head of the Jaffa Orthodox Church Association, and a prominent Israeli Arab.
Cadis was rushed to Wolfson Medical Center in nearby Holon where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Jerusalem cleric Atallah Hanna said, "We wish that the perpetrator will be found as soon as possible, especially since he was dressed as Santa Claus when he murdered Gabe Cadis. He also killed our Christmas joy".
A Somali woman, who converted from Islam to Christianity, was nursing her injuries Wednesday, January 11, after she was reportedly paraded before a cheering crowd and publicly flogged as a punishment for embracing a "foreign religion".
And Churches in a mining area of Burma's northern Kachin state have taken in many refugees, since New Year's Day, after the Burmese military reportedly attacked a Church and killed several people.

The heart of Christian Orthodoxy today celebrates New Year's Eve in the garden of the Mother of God.
At the holy mountain Mount Athos, or Agion Oros, 2012 starts in a few hours' time!
Myself I got baptized Greek Orthodox in October in the Mediterranean Sea by Father Chrysostomos from the Koutloumousiou monastery, thus returning to my Greek roots and restoring the spiritual bond.
If the Orthodox Church is the true Church, the Metamorphosis or Transfiguration Church at Koutloumousiou, is the best Church in the world in my eyes.
Well, it is very beautiful indeed and the atmosphere and spirit there is filled with holiness.
The Orthodox Church is a balanced Church with great spiritual power both in the East and the West.
It is also only a matter of time before the Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Constantinopel again will have its rightful religious place of prominence in a more intelligent world.
The original New Testament is well preserved thanks to the Greek language.
The true Old Testament - the Septuagint LXX - which was independently and similarly written down by 72 learned Jews in Greek, more than a century before Christ, is what is quoted in the New Testament.
Some of the books pointing to Christ are like the Wisdom of Solomon unfortunately excluded from the Protestant Old Testament canon.
The Old Testament canon was undisputed for 1500 years in the Church, but during the Reformation, the Masoretic text, which was decided by non-Christian Jews a century after the resurrection of Christ, unfortunately became the Protestant Old Testament 500 years ago.
When the Church one day again will find its unity, it will as a whole have the Septuagint LXX canon as its Old Testament, and all Christians will again celebrate the New Year by withdrawing 13 days from the Gregorian calendar.
I wish all the monks at Mount Athos a blessed 2012 and wonderful celebrations of our great God Jesus Christ at the garden of the Mother of God, and that they also remember the pious lives of all great martyrs and saints of the early Christian Church.
Even if Latin one day again will be the language of common man, the Greek language will undoubtedly remain the sacred language of the Church and of worship.
